Uzbekistan: enhancing the capacity of citizens and business entities in achieving justice

The right of everyone to a fair trial is a fundamental right and an important criterion established by the international community. In particular, this right has been enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948, Article 8), the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966, Article 14), the Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (1950, Article 6), the The Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (1984, Article 2), the American Regional Convention on Human Rights (1969, Article 8), the Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (1979, Article 15), Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision‐Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (1998, Article 3), Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006, Article 13).


The factor of Central and South Asia in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy

At different stages of the historical evolutionary development of international relations, it is known that the geography of regions and “living organisms” – the states that were there - changed. The efficiency of organization of measures to ensure public safety based on the principle of “Serving human interests”

Special attention is being paid to ensuring a peaceful and tranquil life of the population and to forming a culture of law-abidingness and public safety as part of the large-scale reforms implemented in our country. In particular, completely new mechanisms and procedures for organizing work in the direction of public safety on the basis of the principle of “Serving the interests of the people” are introduced, and mutual purposeful cooperation of state bodies with public structures is established.


Reforms in the higher education system

As a result of the reforms carried out to develop the higher education system within the framework of the Strategy of Actions on Five Priority Areas of Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021 and its logical continuation – the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022–2026, the number of higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country increased from 77 in 2017 to 211 by the end of 2023.
