Uzbek-Turkish relations in the field of trade, economic, financial, technical and transport cooperation
I. Trade and economic cooperation. Turkey is one of the largest trading partners of Uzbekistan (takes 4th place after Russia, China and Kazakhstan).

In 2018 trade between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Turkey increased by 39.9% compared with the same period in 2017 and amounted to $ 2.17 billion, including export - $ 936.2 million (+ 6.7%), import - $ 1.23 billion (+ 83.1%).
The main export positions: non-ferrous metals and products from them (+ 58.9%), textile products (+ 13.6%), chemical products (+ 10.9%), electrical equipment (+ 2.9%), food products (+ 2.5%), services (+ 7%).
It should be noted that if the necessary measures are taken to improve the quality and reduce the cost of production, as well as ensure the corresponding production volumes, it will be possible to diversify the products and increase the potential export to Turkey in 2019 over 1.1 billion dollars (from the current indicators - 936 million dollars for 2018).
The main import items: mechanical equipment (+ 39.8%), electrical equipment (+ 7.5%), ferrous metals and products from them (+ 7.3%), chemical products (+ 6.3%), plastics and products from them (+ 4.1%), textiles (+ 4%), vehicles (+ 3.7%), furniture (+ 3.7%), pharmaceutical products (+ 2.1%), services ( + 11.2%)
II. Financial and technical cooperation
Information on ongoing technical assistance projects with the participation of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination - TIKA.
The Turkish Development and Coordination Agency (TIKA) under the Prime Minister of Turkey was established in 1992.
The goal is to provide technical assistance to developing countries in the field of health care, reforming agricultural systems, developing small and medium-sized enterprises, improving the skills of specialists in various fields, organizing international conferences and seminars.
Since 1993 In the Republic there is a representative office of the Turkish Agency for Development and Coordination (TIKA). In Uzbekistan, the agency has already implemented about 730 grant projects worth $ 26.3 million, in particular to promote the development of the healthcare system, agriculture, small and medium businesses, modernize the material and technical base of a number of medical and educational institutions, etc.
During the meeting, they discussed the further expansion of the organization’s activities in the country, noted the need to identify promising areas of bilateral cooperation, systematic development of TIKA activities in Uzbekistan based on specific projects.

In 2018, TIKA implemented 90 projects for $ 21.1 million (hard component - $ 11.15 million (53%), soft component - $ 9.95 million (47%)).
III. Cooperation in the field of transport
Railway transport
At the end of 2018 the volume of rail freight amounted to: export cargo - 50.5 thousand tons (-47.0%), import cargo - 10.1 thousand tons (-1.8%). Transit of Turkish export cargo through the territory of Uzbekistan - 2.8 thousand tons (-51.4%)
Road transportation
International road transport of goods between the two countries is carried out in accordance with the Intergovernmental Agreement on International Road Transport of April 28, 1992.
At the end of 2018 the volume of road transport of export cargo amounted to 307.4 thousand tons (+ 24.2%), import - 314.9 thousand tons (+ 34.5%). Transit through the territory of Uzbekistan was followed by 6,326 units. (7.1%) of Turkish motor vehicles with a volume of 132.3 thousand tons of cargo (+ 6.7%).
Air Transport
Cooperation in the field of air transport is carried out in accordance with the Intergovernmental Agreement on Air Transport of June 23, 1994.
At the end of 2018 Tashkent-Istanbul and Istanbul-Tashkent routes of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari NAC operated 1,078 flights (+ 37.2%), 228.6 thousand passengers (+ 33.5%) and 3.6 thousand were transported tons of cargo (+ 50.4%).
